This dictionary is a pilot version of the Dictionary of Tibetan Pastoralism compiled by the Team NomaDic of ILCAA, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. It is written and compiled based on the language and culture of Tibetan pastoralists living in Dme-shul area in Rtse-khog, Amdo (Zeku County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, PR China).

The present dictionary is based on the achievements of the two ILCAA Joint Research Projects, "Assessing Micro Level Linkages between Humans, Livestock, and the Environment in Amdo, Tibet: The Outgrowth of the Compilation of an Ethnographic Dictionary of Nomadic Vocabulary" (2014-2016) and "Study of Tibetan Pastoral Culture in Qinghai and its Change: Based on the Method of Documentary Linguistics" (2017-2019), and Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B) "Compilation of an ethnographic dictionary of Tibetan nomadic vocabulary based on the study of Tibetan nomads' wisdom of living" (KAKENHI 15H03203).
